Palmar & Axillary Hyperhidrosis

Excessive Hand and Armpit Sweating

What is Hyperhidrosis?

Sweating is an essential physiological mechanism in maintaining the body's heat balance. However, hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating of a part or all of the body other than natural sweating. This situation can leave the individual in a difficult situation in social life and negatively affect the quality of life.

What is the Surgical Treatment Option?

The most effective and permanent solution for excessive hand  (palmar) and armpit (axillary) sweating is the surgical (Videothoracoscopic Sympathectomy) option.

Before the decision for surgery is made, the patients undergo special endocrinological and other necessary examinations for differential diagnosis. The surgical option, the most effective treatment, can be applied in our patients with excessive sweating of the hands and armpits, which is proven not to be due to another disease.

UNIPORTAL VIDEOTORACOSCOPIC THORACAL SYMPATECTOMYsurgery; It is a closed and short-term (approximately 30 minutes) surgical treatment option for excessive hand and armpit sweating (hyperhidrosis) performed under general anesthesia with a single 0.5-1 cm incision from both armpit hair lines.

Generally, patients are discharged on the same day and return to their social lives.

Videothoracoscopic sympathectomy operation in Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital Thoracic Surgery Clinic Thoracic Surgeon Mehlika İşcan, MD successfully implements.
